Constant Force for Membrane Roofing

MSA’s Latchways fall protection solutions, incorporating Constant Force posts, can be installed on all the major membrane roofing systems including single-ply and bituminous on steel, concrete and timber decks. The system operates horizontally, along inclines, and can be designed to accommodate up to three users.

The Constant Force posts are top fixed to the roof sheet with mechanical anchors or toggle bolts by a process that does not compromise the integrity of the roof. Equally important, in the event of a fall, all the loads generated on the system are absorbed by the Constant Force posts and therefore no damage is impacted on the roof sheets to which they are attached.

To enhance the overall aesthetic appearance, the Constant Force posts can be supplied colour matched to the roofing sheets.

Constant Force for Standing Seam Roofing

MSA’s Latchways engineered lifeline system incorporating the Constant Force post is applicable to all the major forms of standing-seam roofs. It operates horizontally and along inclines and can be designed to accommodate up to three simultaneous users.

The Constant Force posts are top fixed to the roof sheet with four split clamps by a process that does not compromise the integrity of the roof.

Freestanding Constant Force Post System

MSA’s Latchways Freestanding Constant Force post provides assured worker safety at height where there is occasional or temporary requirement to access flat roofs or structures.

At the heart of the system is Latchways’ unique Constant Force technology. The Constant Force post is contained within an anchor device consisting of a galvanised steel frame and galvanised steel weights bolted in a circular formation onto rubber coated base weights. In the event of a fall, the Constant Force post deploys to limit the load on the system while the weights simultaneously create a friction anchor between the unit and the roof surface.

  • Applicable where there is an occasional safety at height requirement.

  • Suitable for flat roofs (maximum 5° pitch).

  • Can be used on a wide range of roof surfaces including concrete, single-ply membrane, bituminous membrane, sanded and stone chipping asphalt, and steel profile.

  • No need to puncture the roof membrane to fix the system.

  • Special rotating anchor turns through 90° for maximum user flexibility.

  • Each anchor device protects a single user.

  • Conforms to BS EN 795 class E.

WalkSafe — Rooftop Walkway System

WalkSafe rooftop walkways provide a level non-slip surface which can serve as an ideal rooftop demarcation route — protecting users against hazards when working at height. In highly trafficked areas — where regular access may be required for maintenance regimes, plant inspection, air quality monitoring, rooflight cleaning, etc — WalkSafe distributes the load evenly on to the roof and thus reduces the wear and tear on the roofing system itself. WalkSafe offers a lightweight, practical solution which can be easily installed to replace existing wooden duckboards, scaffolding boards or snow guards.

Walkway Range

WalkSafe’s flexibility has allowed for the development of a complete range of systems — all with bespoke brackets and componentry:

  • Levelled walkway (up to 15°)
  • Stepped walkway

  • Valley gutter walkway

  • Half-valley gutter walkway

  • Traversing walkway

Bespoke Rooftop Walkway

WalkSafe walkways can create a totally bespoke system for any type of rooftop. With different colour options, the plastic walkway can offer an aesthetically pleasing solution — particularly for listed/heritage buildings to replace existing roof duckboards or crawling boards.
